What does a Lunch Monitor do?
Lunch Monitors provide support and assistance to students during lunchtime activities under the direction of the school principal. The Lunch Monitor will oversee students in a variety of settings including the classroom, lunch area, and outside play areas and may be required to conduct a variety of indoor and outdoor games and activities.
Who can be a Casual Lunch Monitor?
People with many levels of skills are Lunch Monitors. From moms or dads who have years of experience raising their own children, to individuals who have training in child/adolescent studies.
What qualifications do I need to become a Casual Lunch Monitor?
The basic requirements are:
Experience working with children and/or youth;
Valid First Aid/CPR certification considered an asset.
What does a Casual Lunch Monitor get paid and what are the hours of work?
Lunch Monitors are paid $11.86 per hour plus 4% vacation pay and the work assignment can range from 1 to 2 hours per day depending on the duration of the school’s lunch period. Schools employ staff on a full-time, part-time, and on a substitute basis. We also have opportunities to job-share positions; making employment at lunch fit almost any schedule.
